The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) appointed 2016 Hillsborough Community College Honors Institute student Raquel Baudrit as Vice President of its National Leadership Council (NLC). Raquel will also sit on the board of the directors for the 2016–17 term. Each year, NSCS inducts high achieving students in their freshmen and sophomore years of college. NSCS is the largest accredited honor society in the United States.
The NLC is an advisory board to the NSCS national staff and board of directors. The Council also collects feedback from their campuses to improve the NSCS experience for all members.
Raquel plans to transfer to a four-year university this fall.
Hillsborough Community College serves more than 44,000 students annually at five campuses and three centers throughout Hillsborough County. HCC is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (www.nscs.org) was established as a non-profit organization 22 years ago at The George Washington University on the principle that with scholarship there is a responsibility to obtain leadership and a duty to perform service. NSCS is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is a recognized organization at over 350 campuses across the country including a growing number of community colleges.
