SARASOTA, Fla. – Halfacre Construction Company (HalfacreConstruction.com), the area’s oldest, most established, locally owned and operated private commercial construction company, is currently working on the improvements for the west phase of Myrtle Street.
Halfacre Construction Company is the construction manager for the $1.2-million project. The west phase improvements began in early April 2016 and will continue through September 2016. The construction takes place within Sarasota city limits eastbound of Myrtle Street from the west side of Carolina Avenue to Old Bradenton Road and from the east side of Old Bradenton Road to the train tracks.
Funded and approved by Sarasota County, the updates include milling and resurfacing the south side of the corridor, improving site lighting, creating a new pedestrian sidewalk and a new pedestrian bridge over Whitaker Bayou.
There will be a lane closure in order to widen the road and perform the needed bridgework. Motorists are advised to use University Parkway or Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard to travel east during the construction.
The dates for additional planned improvements have yet to be determined.
