SARASOTA/BRADENTON, FL – Goodwill Manasota is pleased to announce the winner of its Mother’s Day Makeover contest held at the end of May. Roberta Kegler, who was nominated by her daughter, Beth, was the winner of the makeover, which included an hour with First Impression Image Consulting, a $100 Goodwill gift card, and hair and make-up at Nuovo Salons & Spas.
Beth nominated her mother because of the unconditional love and unselfish care she has received even as an adult, as well as her mother’s concern and care for others. Beth has a chronic illness, which often leaves her bedridden with vertigo, and her mother provides critical support for her and her daughter.
“My mom is the best because she always thinks of others before herself. She is constantly helping me: she is my nurse, cook, taxi driver, and babysitter of my daughter when I am sick,” said Beth. “I don’t know what I would do without her. Not only does she help me but she is always there for other family members too. She is always thinking about others and doesn’t spend time and money on herself. She deserves to be treated as well as she treats others. She deserves a makeover!”
After Kegler was chosen as the contest winner, she met with Sharon Stewart of First Impression Image Consulting at Goodwill’s corporate store in Bradenton to be styled. Stewart could tell through an initial phone call that Kegler was due for a wardrobe refresh because of the energy and time she reserves for her family members, rather than herself.
“The gift card from Goodwill Manasota went a long way in helping her to renew and re-visit her own unique style. Her fashion personality tends to lean toward the classic style,” said Sharon Stewart. “We were able to modify that style with one-of-a-kind pieces from the Goodwill racks. I added bright colors to her basic style to sizzle them up and we were able to find some wonderful finishing touch accessories to bring her style one step up the ladder. We filled her cart with wonderful pieces that could translate to her life and give her flair. What a wonderful way to honor this lovely mother!”
After the image consultation, Kegler went to Nuovo Salons & Spas and met with stylist Laura, who treated her to a new hairstyle that framed her face as well as applied make-up to finish off her new look.
“Most moms focus more on the needs of their family and tend to neglect their own,” said Goodwill Manasota vice president Veronica Brandon Miller. “Mothers are heroes and, while we should be celebrating them every day, Mother’s Day offers an opportunity to express special thanks. We are grateful to Nuovo Salons & Spas and First Impression Image Consulting for helping us to honor Roberta for all that she does for her family.”
