Tampa, Fla. – June 14, 2016 – Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that Tampa Shareholder George J. Meyer received the Robert C. Scott Memorial Award from The Florida Bar’s Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section (RPPTL) at its annual convention in Orlando on June 3, 2016.
The award is granted to a RPPTL member who best exemplifies devotion and continued service to the Section and the practice of law. Meyer has a long history of service with the RPPTL. He served as chair of the Section from 2011 to 2012. He is currently a member of the Section’s Legislative Review, Title Insurance and Construction Law Committees, as well as chair of its Meeting Planning Committee. Meyer is a past chair of its Construction Law Committee and a past member of its Construction Law Certification Committee.
Meyer received the RPPTL Section’s Construction Law Committee’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.
At Carlton Fields, Meyer serves as one of the firm’s Construction industry group leaders. He is a construction and real estate lawyer, with extensive experience representing owners, developers, contractors, and designers on large, complex development projects. He also handles all types of construction and real estate transactions. He has worked on major projects across the country and internationally, including stadiums, arenas, ballparks, convention centers, airports, hospitals, education facilities, hotels, casinos, mixed use, manufacturing facilities, pipelines, refineries, and railroads.
Meyer is board certified in Construction Law by The Florida Bar. He is a Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and American College of Construction Lawyers. He received his J.D. with honors from the University of Tulsa College of Law and his B.S. and B.A. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
