Tampa, Fla. – The Patel Conservatory at the Straz Center will present Speaking Up for Success, a three-day crash course on public speaking for the working professional, June 9-11.
Taught by Patel Conservatory Instructor Matthew Belopavlovich, Speaking Up for Success will consist of lectures and group exercises focusing on: vocal and physical warm-ups, relaxation of the mind and body, improvisation, elevator speeches and speech structure.
Belopavlovich has studied public speaking and acting for many years and earned a BFA in Acting from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Before joining the Patel Conservatory, he served as an instructor at Florida Studio Theatre, French Woods Festival of the Arts, Hartford University School and Milwaukee Public Theatre. A couple of his performance highlights include his work at Orlando Repertory Theatre and the Skylight Music Theatre. Television credits include MTV’s The Inbetweeners and Camp’d Out. His original work was featured at the New York Clown Theatre Festival and is a former recipient of the Jeff Norton Dream Grant.
The Speaking Up for Success course will be held Thursday, June 9 and Friday, June 10, 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, June 11, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Registration is required by calling 813.222.1040; tuition is $125.
