Visitors will be delighted by the work of over 100 of the nation’s best contemporary craft artists, artist demonstrations, food trucks, craft beers and the best cultural venues on the west coast of Florida. The CraftArt Festival juror will award $10,000 in cash awards to the artists. Florida CraftArt is pleased to announce the juror for the CraftArt Festival 2015 is Chris Amundsen, Executive Director of the American Craft Council, which is the largest non-profit producer of fine juried craft shows in the country; produces a bi-monthly magazine, American Craft, provides educational programs and operates a research library to meet the needs of the craft community.
For the ninth year, the CraftArt Festival, a juried fine craft art festival, will be held in the heart of the Central Arts District in front of Florida CraftArt Gallery, located at 501 Central Avenue in downtown St. Petersburg. This 2 day festival kicks off the Holiday shopping season and takes advantage of the great Florida fall weather. One of the most eagerly anticipated arts events each year by collectors and patrons as well as by locals and visitors who plan a long weekend around the show, the CraftArt Festival features some of the nation’s best established and emerging fine craft artists with handmade works in clay, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, paper and mixed media. The weekend will include artist demonstrations, make and take activities and craft beer from one of Tampa Bay’s local micro-breweries. This year, we are proud to announce that visitors will be able to watch live glass blowing as DMGlass brings its mobile hot shop to the festival.
For the fourth year, we will continue to showcase the talents of emerging artists with the support of the DMG School Project as we engage the next generation of fine craft artists. St. Petersburg continues to support a vibrant arts community through its galleries, artist studios, museums and murals. “We’re excited to bring the country’s finest contemporary craft artists to the “best” coast for the 19th Annual CraftArt Festival” says Diane Shelly, Florida CraftArt’s Executive Director.
