TAMPA, Fla. (May 9, 2016) — Suncoast Credit Union announces that its Crystal River Branch Manager, David White, is the recipient of the Carolyn Parslow Community Service Award. The service award, presented by Suncoast President and CEO Tom Dorety, is given to individuals who enrich their community through outstanding community service.
“Although I was recognized for my service, it was Suncoast Credit Union that actually provided me the opportunities to serve my community,” says David White. “Our two Citrus County branches recorded about 600 volunteer hours last year through various projects, and we are already at 340 hours for 2016. This time brings lasting changes that improve our community.”
Suncoast Credit Union is the largest credit union in Florida, serving 21 counties and more than 700,000 members. Through its foundation, the credit union has raised and donated over $16 million dollars to the community since 1990, including over $400,000 specifically to Citrus County in the last five years.
Organizations in Citrus County that have benefitted from Suncoast’s support include Citrus County Harvest/Blessings, the YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, Citrus County Education Foundation, Take Stock in Children, Citrus County School District and United Way. The credit union also has funded several scholarships in the community. Most recently, Suncoast committed to a $250,000 gift to build the first YMCA facility in Citrus County.
