Pasco County Tax Collector Mike Fasano and AAA’s Auto Club Group Traffic Safety Foundation are joining forces by designating June as Pasco’s “Safe Summer Campaign.” Tax Collector Fasano and the AAA’s Auto Club Group Traffic Safety Foundation will be encouraging motorists in Pasco County to drive safely through educational programs and donation opportunities to support driving safety.
Through the “Safe Summer Campaign,” the tax collector offices in Pasco will be promoting the importance of staying safe on the roadway. While the safety campaign will run throughout the entire month of June, older drivers will be the focus of two events scheduled on June 14 in the Gulf Harbors office (4720 U.S. Highway 19, New Port Richey). The Mature Drivers Defensive Driving Course will be held from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM that day. Additionally, the CarFit program, which provides free safety checks of vehicles operated by senior citizens, will take place at the same location. The general public may receive their free safety inspection from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM (no appointments necessary) while participants in the defensive driving program will receive their inspections from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM.
“We are excited to partner with Tax Collector Mike Fasano and his staff on this important campaign to raise awareness in Pasco County of traffic safety issues,” said Michele Harris, Director of Traffic Safety Culture for the AAA’s Auto Club Group Traffic Safety Foundation. “By working together, we can provide education and training to thousands of people and help keep people safe on the roads.”
The Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office will promote the AAA’s Auto Club Group Traffic Safety Foundation by encouraging customers who visit one of the five tax collection offices in Pasco County to make a contribution of $1.00 or more to the Foundation. Customers may also check off the box marked “ACG Traffic Safety Foundation” on the back of their vehicle registration renewal form if they choose to renew by mail. Donations of all amounts are welcomed and encouraged.
“I encourage customers to consider supporting this excellent program,” Tax Collector Mike Fasano comments. “Traffic safety is an important part of our daily lives. With newly licensed teen drivers entering the road daily, to seasoned older drivers who have been driving for a lifetime, it is impossible to overstate the value of traffic safety. The Foundation has many educational programs that provide needed assistance, training, and other services to ensure that each driver is safe behind the wheel. Contributions made through this campaign will directly fund the safety programs the Foundation has successfully run for many years.”
