St. Petersburg, Fla. (May 23, 2016) – Standup comedian, writer and Emmy-nominated actor Tracy Morgan, from 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live, brings his one-man show Picking Up the Pieces to The Mahaffey Friday, Nov. 11 at 8 p.m.
Starring for seven seasons on NBC’s Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning 30 Rock, Morgan appeared opposite Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin as “Tracy Jordan,” the unpredictable star of a TV variety show. In 2009, Morgan received his first Emmy nomination for this role, in the Supporting Actor category; he was also nominated for a Supporting Actor NAACP Image Award. The 30 Rock cast also won the Screen Actors Guild Award for “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.”
Morgan’s work on 30 Rock followed his seven-season turn on Saturday Night Live, where he created such memorable characters as “Astronaut Jones” and “Brian Fellows.” After leaving SNL, Morgan went on to star in his own comedy series The Tracy Morgan Show, and voiced “Spoonie Luv” on Comedy Central’s Crank Yankers. His autobiography, I Am the New Black, was published in 2009.
In April 2014, he released a standup special for Comedy Central, titled Tracy Morgan: Bona Fide, which brought the network one of its largest viewerships for a standup special.
