Nancy Harris, Tampa family lawyer and senior partner of Harris & Hunt, PA, was selected by the Florida Academy of Collaborative Professionals (FACP) to deliver Legal Alchemy: Advocating for Consensus, a presentation designed to help lawyers understand and adopt new methods to practice successfully within a collaborative team. She will co-present with Wendy Aikin of The Aikin Law Group at the FACP Annual Conference hosted in Tampa on May 20.
The presentation’s learning objectives include conscious awareness of the collaborative lawyer’s role; identification of the lawyer’s communication and negotiation styles; guidance on the use of the law; and concludes with concrete tools and examples to implement them.
With the passing of the Collaborative Process Law in Florida during the last legislative session, more marital and family lawyers will be adding collaborative divorce to their practices as an alternative to traditional litigation. The process is achieved with a team of lawyers, an independent financial professional, and a mental health professional – all working collaboratively to achieve consensus.
