Eva Hawkins, a professional with a wealth of experience in human resources and organizational development, will implement the popular Arts in Medicine program at the Watson Clinic Cancer & Research Center in Lakeland. A published author and a highly experienced program director, Ms. Hawkins is a tremendous asset to the Foundation team.
Arts in Medicine is an empowering outreach program aimed at elevating the spirits and enhancing the quality of life for cancer patients through the practice of the creative arts. Sponsored by the Watson Clinic Foundation, this inspirational program provides an invaluable service to patients, families and treatment staff alike.
The program is made possible by a dedicated group of volunteers comprised of musicians, artists, writers, performers and educators; all joining together to represent nearly all forms of creative expression, including art, music and storytelling. The psychological and emotional uplift that patients experience as a result of such programs enhances their sense of engagement and self-esteem, and has been shown to improve medical outcomes as well.
