During the month of April the PACE Center for Girls was the featured charitable organization-of-the month at the offices of Tax Collector Mike Fasano. PACE is a nationally recognized non-residential program that serves girls between the ages of 11-18 and features a balanced emphasis on academics and social services. The girls who attend PACE are middle and high-school-aged students, many of whom were at risk of dropping out of traditional school settings.
“Our partnership with the Tax Collectors’ Office was a wonderful opportunity for us to share the PACE program and its life changing impact on at-risk girls in our community,” comments Gail Armstrong, Executive Director of PACE. “The funds raised far exceeded our expectations and demonstrates that Pasco County citizens support the mission of PACE and believe that our girls can, and will, fulfill their potential and achieve lifelong success.”
The fundraising campaign brought in $8,126.61 through the hard work of the tax collector’s staff and the generous donations of a caring community. Some members of the tax collector’s staff joined Tax Collector Mike Fasano as he handed over the check to Gail Armstrong and Ashley Gonzales and Alyssa Vargas, both students who attend PACE.
“Our office was proud to sponsor the PACE Center for Girls,” states Tax Collector Mike Fasano. “Many of the young ladies who enter the school have severe education, health and behavior challenges. During their enrollment the dedicated staff, and families who support their loved one, work together to better the lives of the students. The good work the school does is evident by the fact that 91% of the students return to traditional school/ college or continue on in specialized training or gainful employment. I would like to thank every member of our community who made a contribution to further the success of this wonderful program.”
