GULFPORT, FL: The Gulfport community has pulled together in large numbers to support the “Gulfport Lights it up” 58th Street Fire Disaster Fundraiser. Their efforts will help not only the businesses, but the employees as well, who suffered losses from the April 21 fire, which swept through the shopping plaza on the corner of 58th St. S and 15 Ave. S, in Gulfport.
Tragically as a result, three of the four businesses located in the plaza still remain closed. We all can imagine the impacts something as devastating as a fire has on our livelihoods. Fortunately, we can also imagine the overwhelming amount of support a family like Gulfport can offer at a time like this.
“Gulfport Lights It Up” will take place on May 18, from 5-9 PM at Most Holy Name of Jesus, 5800 15th Ave S, Gulfport. Donated food and beverage from local restaurants will be offered for donations as well as live music contributed by a local DJ and several local musicians. Silent & live auctions will offer a variety of amazing prizes, including a Tampa Bay Watch basket, Rowdies tickets, local art, restaurant gift certificates, a 50/50 cash raffle and more. 100% of the proceeds will benefit the businesses and employees affected by the fire.
Any and all donations are greatly appreciated and still being accepted. If you’re unable to make the benefit, but would like to make a donation, please contact Barbara Banno at 727-252-9366. If you’d like to volunteer for this portion of the fundraising efforts, please contact sign up online at www.chrisNsteve.com or contact Mallory at 727-386-2702.
For those who which to help but are not near Gulfport, a GoFundMe account has also been set up. This account will continue to raise funds until these businesses can get through all the red tape needed to re-open their doors.
