Hudson, Florida (April 22, 2016) – Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point has announced the recipients of its first quarter volunteer Star Awards. The awards were presented on April 20 at the Rao Musunuru, MD Conference Center on the hospital campus. Five Star honored volunteers included Bruce McQueen, Louise Ottaviano, and Moe Vasquez. Liz Smith was recognized with the One Star Award.
Bruce McQueen began volunteering eight years ago and has already accumulated 1,900 hours of service as a courier at RMCBP. Bruce has developed a reputation for doing any task that is asked of him. He is knowledgeable and willing to help new and veteran volunteers whenever the occasion arises. “He is always happy and pleasant to work with everyone with whom he comes into contact,” said volunteer manager Donna Owen. “It is dedicated volunteers like Bruce that make our volunteer program a great success,” she added.
Louise Ottaviano began volunteering at RMCBP in 2002 and has over 12 years and 9,000 hours of service as a courier. “Her pleasant demeanor and friendly smile is contagious,” said volunteer manager Donna Owen. “All who work with her and know her enjoy being around her,” she added. Louise is dedicated and that is shown by the fact that she rarely misses any of her assigned days and is always willing to go above and beyond when asked.
Moe Vasquez has been with RMCBP’s volunteer program for three years and has already accumulated over 900 hours of service as a courier. He has a reputation for being dependable, on time, and pleasant to work with. “He is always available when called upon and willing to give a helping hand to all,” said Donna Owen. “His dedication to volunteering and helping our patients, families, and staff is the reason why Moe has received this award,” she added.
Liz Smith has been volunteering at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point for nine years at welcome station “A.” She has over 1,800 hours of service, which she provides with a smile and a very helpful disposition. In addition, Liz has developed an exceptional rapport with teens and fellow volunteers who work with her and enjoy being around her. “Her customer service skills are excellent and she gives a nice first impression of our hospital. Liz is dedicated to her job. She enjoys what she does and it shows,” said Donna Owen.
