Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) Foundation hosted the 10th annual Catch and Release Fishing Tournament presented by Skanska USA Building and Borrell Electric Company on April 22 at Catches Waterfront Grille in Port Richey. Twenty-one chartered boats carried Foundation supporters who enjoyed a full day of fishing while raising funds for the PHSC Foundation. The biggest prize winners of the day were PHSC students, faculty and staff who will benefit from the $36,000 raised at the event.
Trophies were awarded for first, second, and third place Grand Slam; first place for the largest in length in three species categories; and the Master Angler award for largest Cobia.
Winners in the combined total inches category included Josh Newsome, Unlimited Site Services, who was awarded first place with 75.25 total inches; Daniel Erdmann, Sunrise Landscaping, earned second place with a total of 74.5 inches; and Erin Devaughn, Cox Fire Protection, secured third place with a total catch of 67 inches.
Other top anglers included: Steve Pagliano, Borrell Electric Company, with a 26-inch Trout; Paul Manuel, Harvard Jolly LLC, for his 30-inch Redfish; Daniel Abou-Jaoude, Skanska USA Building, for a 34.25-inch Snook; and Matthew Niedens, Borrell Electric Company, received the Master Angler award with a 30.75-inch Cobia.
The PHSC Foundation was established in 1975 to support student programs, instructional resources, staff development and facilities for the College.
