Pasco-Hernando State College Cisco Network Academy student Eli Hazen was selected for the 2016 Cisco Live Dream Team event to be held in Las Vegas in July. More than 80 applicants from across the United States and Canada, were recommended by their instructors to represent their academy at Cisco Live, Cisco’s largest customer event.
Now in its sixth year, the Dream Team opportunity is a vital element to the success more than 25,000 attendees. Dream Team students gain exposure and recognition among potential employers, hands-on experience working with Cisco engineers, full access to event sessions, and the opportunity to take a Cisco certification exam.
Hazen’s instructor, Karen Lederer, Ph.D., PHSC professor, information technology programs/department chair, information technology, submitted a recommendation letter on behalf of Hazen. “Eli is one of my top students and excels in understanding, applying, and troubleshooting wireless, routing, and switching technologies,” said Lederer.
Hazen completed the CCNA Cisco Academy program at PHSC this spring and is CCENT certified. The 2016 Cisco Live Dream Team is comprised of 10 academy students, two academy instructor mentors, plus a returning Dream Team student as captain. All students who were nominated to apply for the Dream Team are invited to join a group on LinkedIn comprised of high-performing academy students and graduates, for access to industry insight and career resources, as well as be considered for job opportunities at Cisco and other employers.
