Workforce Development – Enhancing the pool of qualified workers
Businesses find it challenging to fill their open positions due to a lack of qualified candidates. Join us 9:00am Thursday, May 19th at the Madeira Beach Recreation Center to hear Representatives from CareerSource Pinellas and St. Petersburg College discuss resources, programs and training available to enhance the pool of qualified workers.
CareerSource and St. Pete College is preparing people for the many hospitality and tourism jobs that are needed to keep Florida functioning as a world-class tourism destination.
Continued success at achieving annual tourism goals can only be realized if businesses can find the skilled talent needed to fill their increasing openings. It was estimated that 100 million visitors in Florida would create more than 121,000 new jobs.
The goal is to “maximize the economic impact of travel and tourism to Florida” by shifting from prioritizing visitor volume to directing tourism investments toward supporting increased spending by visitors, longer stays and more frequent return trips. At $82 billion in tourism-related spend today, the objective is to reach $100 billion by 2020.
Enhancing workforce development through recruitment, training and job placement is a top priority for the Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce.
