Rhea F. Law, chair of the Florida offices for Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, was selected as the recipient of the 2016 Dottie Berger MacKinnon Woman of Influence Award presented by the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce.
“Rhea’s professional, community and philanthropic work in our city is among the very best. For initiative, community involvement, professional accomplishments, leadership, vision and selflessness, Rhea has set the standard for us all,” said John Ramil, 2004 Chamber Chair.
The Woman of Influence Award recognizes a woman whose leadership has made a positive impact in Hillsborough County. It pays tribute to an individual who exemplifies outstanding professional values; demonstrates the ability to go above and beyond the normal expectations of a leader; and serves as an inspiration to the community.
More than 900 people were in attendance at the Chamber’s annual Women of Influence Luncheon Thursday where Law was presented the award.
As a fifth generation Floridian, Law has been intimately involved with organizations that drive growth and economic development within the state. She has held top leadership positions with local economic development organizations and has spent countless hours advocating for Florida’s future as a premier location for attracting businesses in the healthcare, financial, technology and retail sectors.
She focuses her law practice in the areas of government, environmental law and land use. With more than 30 years of experience, Law handles entitlement, permitting and zoning matters with specific emphasis on commercial, industrial and residential mixed use developments throughout Florida.
She earned her law degree from Stetson University College of Law, her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida, an Honorary Doctor of Business Administration degree from Webber International University and the Honorary Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine.
