Bright House Networks local 24-hour news channel News 13 is proud to announce that its website MyNews13.com has won an Edward R. Murrow Award on April 19, 2016, for “best website in a large television market.”
The media award, presented by the Radio Television Digital News Association, is based on website design, quality, innovation and storytelling techniques. Winning websites must also be user-friendly and play a vital role in informing the public of important daily issues.
MyNews13.com won out over entries from the Association’s Region 13, which consists of radio and TV news websites in Florida, Georgia, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands that competed for the regional Edward R. Murrow Award. MyNews13.com will now be entered into the national competition held in June, with winners announced in October 2016 at the Edward R. Murrow Awards Gala in New York City.
MyNews13.com, formerly cfnews13.com, launched in early 2006. Since then, the website has become a popular destination for local news and weather information in the Central Florida area. MyNews13.com also received the Edward R. Murrow Award in 2011.
“We are honored to receive such high recognition from the Radio Television Digital News Association,” said Alan Mason, vice president, local programming group, Bright House Networks. “The Edward R. Murrow Award for best website in a large TV market validates our philosophy of providing our customers and every Internet user with information that has immediate value, and is constantly updated.”
