During the month of March AFIRE of Pasco, was the charitable organization of the month at the offices of Tax Collector Mike Fasano. AFIRE of Pasco is a day-training program for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. AFIRE of Pasco provides basic academic skills training, one-on-one computer instruction, training in daily living skills and recreation and social outings/ activities. The overall purpose of the program is to help promote independence for individuals with disabilities with a focus on improving their ability to fully function in the community.
“On behalf of the AFIRE students, staff and Board of Directors, we would like to thank Mike Fasano, Greg Giordano and the staff for their hard work and dedication to raise money for the AFIRE Program during the month of March 2016,” states AFIRE of Pasco CEO Denise Haystrand. “It is with grateful hearts that Pasco County residents have embraced our program through their donations during our campaign. The money raised will help to offset some of the costs of repairing flood damage incurred over the Memorial Day weekend 2015.”
The fundraising campaign raised a total of $3,858.62 through the hard work of the tax collector’s staff and the generous donations of a caring community. The five tax collector offices throughout Pasco County, located at the West Pasco Government Center, Gulf Harbors, Central Pasco Government Center, Wesley Chapel and the East Pasco Government Center all played key roles in raising these funds.
“We have had the honor of working with AFIRE of Pasco since it first opened in Pasco County many years ago,” comments Tax Collector Mike Fasano. “From my earliest days in the legislature to my present position as tax collector, AFIRE of Pasco has continued to impress with how much they can do with such a limited budget. When we learned how the flooding of last year impacted the school we decided to make AFIRE the focus of our charitable giving program. The success of the students is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the staff and volunteers who make AFIRE of Pasco what it is today. AFIRE is an important part of our community and deserves all the support it can receive.”
