The nonprofit organization leads the Nation in health and safety education. Since 1989, MORE HEALTH, Inc. has been working to improve the health and safety of children, teens, and adults through interactive lessons. MORE HEALTH has taught over 3.4 million students in schools throughout the Tampa Bay area, one lesson, and one classroom at a time.
Chief Eric Ward and Officer Gig Brown joined MORE HEALTH educators at Villa Madonna School on Thursday, April 14 to observe and participate in a 40-minute firearm safety presentation. Tampa Police Department School Resource Officers (SROs) will be trained on these presentations this summer. The SROs will be actively involved in presenting MORE HEALTH’s curriculum to third and sixth graders during the upcoming school year.
The partnership will also create new opportunities for police officers to engage in open dialogue about guns with kids at a young age. MORE HEALTH expects to give these presentations to more than 25,000 students across Hillsborough and Pinellas County in the upcoming school year.
