TRAINING WORKSHOPS AS PART OF BUILDING A HEALTHIER SULPHUR SPRINGS PROJECT
Area residents and volunteers will attend training workshops on April 16 and 23 in an effort to revitalize the historic neighborhood
TAMPA, Fla. (Friday, April 15, 2016) – For the next two Saturdays, April 16 and April 23, Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay (RTTB) will be hosting Living Healthier in My Home training workshops for local residents and will be training volunteer captains in preparation for RTTB’s upcoming 2016 National Rebuild Day in Tampa’s historic Sulphur Springs neighborhood.
The workshops will teach local residents about the seven principles of keeping a safe and healthy home, reducing the risk of household hazards, and home maintenance. RTTB will also share the benefits of installing products included in the RTTB’s Healthy Home Kit and its function, as well as financial literacy education classes taught by their project partner, Solita’s House, a HUD certified, 501 (c)(3), Housing Counseling Agency, to provide residents ways to save money and budget for home maintenance expenses in the future.
These training events are part of the ongoing transformation of historic Sulphur Springs that RTTB is undertaking as part of its Building a Healthier Sulphur Springs Project. First implemented in 2014 by RTTB to help revitalize Sulphur Springs, one of Tampa’s most distressed neighborhoods, the program is a comprehensive community revitalization effort that provides immediate quality-of-life improvements to homeowners and tenants in need.
Volunteer captains will also be attending training sessions on Saturday at the RTTB offices to prepare them in advance of RTTB’s 2016 National Rebuild Day event on April 30.
