Duckweed Urban Grocery, which opened its second location on April 1st in the heart of the Channel District, is delighted to launch its Café and Fresh Juice Bar this Sunday, April 17th. Customers can enjoy a free 12oz fresh juice with the purchase of any café item all day Sunday.
The café will continue to offer its current selection of grab-and-go salads, snacks, and sandwiches, while also introducing hot pressed paninis and soup specials made from scratch every day. The juice bar will launch with four original recipes as Chef Courtney Poe says, “we’re starting small and want to hear what the people want.”
A special aspect of the new café items is that they will utilize some of the same wonderful locally-made products that can be purchased in the grocery store. “We will be using The Chill Dill’s Gnarly Garlic pickles on our Cuban sandwich, Patty’s Peppers on the Italian pressed sandwich, and will have house-made flavored cream cheeses with jams and chutneys from Surinder’s Kitchen,” Poe explains.
While this Duckweed location already boasts an outstanding selection of craft beer and wine, an abundance of local items, and a top-notch pet boutique by Modern Paws, the addition of the Café and Juice Bar will allow Duckweed to provide the Channel District community with options for those that eat on the run or just hate to cook!
Michelle Deatherage, owner of the Duckweed Urban Grocery stores, is proud to fill a need in the community. “It’s a middle ground between being able to eat healthy and quickly. We are happy to offer another option to satisfy our customers that is long overdue in the Channel District.”
