St Pete Parks and RecreationSt. Petersburg, FL  (April 1, 2016) The Children’s Plant Fair on Saturday, April 23, and Sunday, April 24, is part of the Green Thumb Festival and is a noncompetitive program designed to promote environmental awareness in children. Each participant will receive a “goody bag,” and the first 100 plant entries each day receive a free T-shirt. This event welcomes students in preschool through fifth grade. The Green Thumb Festival highlights include the Garden Club of St. Petersburg Flower Show, educational exhibits, grow and share, free mulch, kids’ crafts, nursery plant vendors, plant auction, gardening tips and a food court. To participate just complete two easy steps: grow one or more plants in a container, and bring your favorite plant and registration card for “show and tell” to the Walter Fuller Recreation Center, 7891 26th Avenue N., between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., on either Saturday or Sunday.
