Pasco-Hernando State College students participated in the Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL) State Leadership Conference and competition held in Orlando, Fla. in March. PHSC West Campus student Leslie Barnwell placed first in the Job Interview competition, qualifying for National competition. Barnwell also placed third in the Administrative Technology competition and received the prestigious Christopher J. Heider Scholarship award.
PHSC West Campus student team including Tayler Carlson, Jaime Zapote-Pach, Marcella Thurman, and Norman Widamen Jr. took first place in the Parliamentary Procedure competition also qualifying for Nationals. Plus, second place winners going to the National competition are North Campus student Alyssa Bohnsack in Job Interview and West Campus student Joy Jordan in Personal Finance.
“Members from different PHSC campuses attended the event and engaged in competitions, sessions, and networking. I am honored to be part of their experience and to witness their great accomplishments and growth as leaders and mentors to new members,” said Sandra Wohlers, PHSC Computer Laboratory Technician and Phi Beta Lambda, Advisor.
Other PHSC students who placed in FBLA-PBL competition include: North Campus–David Adams, fourth place in Management Concepts; West Campus–Victor Miller, fourth place Network Concepts and fifth place in Public Speaking; Spring Hill– Manuel Cuzco, third place in Human Resource Management.
The West Campus PBL Chapter also received the Gold Seal Chapter Membership award that includes a premier table at the next State Leadership Conference.
The annual Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda National competition will be held in Atlanta, Georgia in June 2016.
