Duckweed Urban Grocery, the popular Downtown Tampa grocery store, is expanding to the Channel District with a second location set to “hatch” April 1st in The Place at 111 N. 12th St. The grocery store prides itself on a large craft beer and wine selection, locally-made artisan breads, spreads, sauces, salsas, and even beauty products, plus your everyday household convenience items. The new location also features high quality pet products from The Modern Paws, a local online retailer who are now enjoying a storefront presence in the Channel District grocery store.
Duckweed Urban Grocery will host a “Hatching” weekend April 1st-3rd as an opportunity for locals to sample many of the store’s products and learn how the store will develop within the Channel District community.
“We’re calling it a hatching because, while we are excited to be open for our customers, it will take some time to be fully stocked and operational. Just as baby ducks usually take 28-35 days to hatch, Duckweed Channel District will continue to grow and become more complete with every passing day. We thought it would be great to host an event that allows people to check out the store, try the delicious goodies our local vendors offer, and get excited about what’s to come,” says Marketing Manager of Duckweed Urban Grocery, Alexandra Rath.
The Hatching Event will take place over three days:
Friday April 1st 5pm-8pm – Tasting of local goods
Saturday April 2nd 9am-12pm – Music, community, and sampling more local goods
Sunday April 3rd 5pm-8pm – Cocktail Party with craft beers and wine
Michelle Deatherage, owner of Duckweed Urban Grocery, is very enthusiastic and proud of her team: “A grocery store is an anchor in any community and we are delighted to bring this concept to the Channel District. The entire team is ecstatic about our growth and can’t wait to meet all the new customers!”
