Ruskin, FL – The Watson Clinic Foundation will offer free skin examinations throughout the month of April at the Watson Clinic Dermatology at Sun City Center location at 924A Cypress Village Blvd. in Ruskin.
The screenings will take place from 8 am – 11:30 am during Friday mornings on April 1, 8, 15, and the 29, and will be provided by Michelle Gordon, ARNP-C, a certified nurse practitioner who works alongside dermatologist Ronald J. Patrick, MD. No appointments are necessary as these free examinations will be provided on a walk-in basis only. Participants are asked to wear loose fitting clothing and no make-up to assist with the examination. You do not have to be an existing Watson Clinic patient to participate.
“This event will raise awareness of the importance of routine skin evaluations in the early detection and treatment of skin cancer,” says Gordon. “These examinations are particularly important given our living conditions in the Florida sunshine.”
According to the American Academy of Dermatology, skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States, afflicting one in every five people. Early detection is the primary means of protecting yourself from the disease.
