The Pasco-Hernando State College cheer team placed fourth in the Cheer Ltd. Nationals at CANAM in the small coed collegiate division on Friday, March 18, 2016. The competition was held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center in Myrtle Beach, SC. The team also placed first in an all-girl stunt group division that included flyer Amanda Kahn with backspot Ashley Morris, and bases Elizabeth Stowers, Damari Sanchez and Stephanie Gause.
“The team faced various obstacles this year and we had to make a lot of changes that gave them great lessons in adversity. I am extremely proud of their hard work and dedication this season and it shows with how much they have improved. Our goal was to finish higher than we did last year and we accomplished that,” said Sophia Haddad, head coach and PHSC advisor.
Cheer team members include freshmen Thad Anderton and Ashley Morris (Zephyrhills High School); Marissa French (Anclote High School), Sara Kahn (River Ridge High School); and sophomores Scott Howery, Amanda Kahn, and Amber LiCalsi (River Ridge High School); Stephanie Gause (Gulf High School); Damari Sanchez (Zephyrhills High School); and Elizabeth Stowers (Land O’ Lakes High School).
