ORLANDO, FL, March 25, 2016 – The American Red Cross received a generous gift from ABC Fine Wines & Spirits designated to assist with disaster relief efforts.
ABC Fine Wines & Spirits Chief Operating Officer Andy Abernathy recently presented a $2,500 donation to Linda Jorge Carbone, Interim Executive Director of the Greater Orlando Chapter and CEO of the Central Florida Region.
“Through the generosity of supporters like ABC, we provide shelter, food, relief supplies, health and mental health services, and casework to the hundreds of people suffering from the effects disasters such as the current devastating floods,” said Carbone.
Entire families have lost their homes and everything they own in this flooding. Some areas are still inaccessible and the preliminary reports of approximately 2,800 homes destroyed or severely damaged across Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas could rise.
“In addition to our community role as a local business, we recognize our responsibility as a corporate citizen. We devote significant resources – not only financial, but also time and talent – to supporting charitable organizations in our hometown of Orlando and across Florida,” said ABC Fine Wine & Spirits CEO Charles Bailes, III. “Our primary mission in giving is to assist those in our community who demonstrate the greatest need. We focus on organizations benefiting children, the elderly and those who have suffered losses due to natural disasters.”
Since the flooding began, more than 1,800 Red Crossers and our partners have provided 4,300 overnight stays in 60 shelters; served 224,000 meals and snacks; distributed 88,000 relief items including comfort kits and cleaning supplies; and provided 6,300 health and mental health consultations since the flooding began.
