1st place non-traditional Cuban Sandwich
St. Petersburg, FL March 22, 2016: Ramon Hernandez, proprietor and chef, of Pipo’s Cuban Café on Bay Pines won first place in the non-traditional Cuban sandwich at the 5th Annual Cuban Sandwich Festival in Ybor City. The non-traditional sandwich category allows chefs to get creative and put a twist on the Cuban sandwich ingredients. The two day event took place at Centennial Park in Tampa. The winning sandwich, El Cubano platenero, is now being served at both locations.
February 23rd, 2016 at the Cuban sandwich festival in Orlando, Pipo’s Cuban Café also won 1st place with the most popular vote.
Next month, Hernandez will compete in the Top Local Chef Competition sponsored by Localshops1 at the Gulfport Casino. Tickets for the April 24th event are available at www.toplocalchef.com
