SARASOTA COUNTY – Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) is offering free bus rides on Election Day, as part of an effort to encourage residents to get out and vote.
Taking advantage of the free rides is opportunity to not only participate in the democratic process, but explore the SCAT system and where it can take you around Sarasota County.
“It’s a great benefit allowing residents to get out and vote, and its a great way to introduce our bus system to residents who may not be familiar with what SCAT has to offer,” said Rocky Burke, SCAT director. “I encourage you to hop on a bus and try it out!”
Local and Express Buses will run free of charge the following days:
* Presidential Preference Primary Election, March 15
* Primary Election, Aug. 30
* General Election, Nov. 8
In addition, the Manatee County Area Transit system will be offering free rides on the same days, so routes 99 and 18, which are shared by MCAT and SCAT, will also be available to ride for free.
