Tampa, FL (March 10, 2016) – SCORE International Baseball is expanding to Jena, Alabama this May. The announcement was made at the SCORE Baseball fundraiser recently at Topgolf by Director of Player Development, Sam Marsonek.
“We are very excited about the opportunity to be moving to Alabama and to partner with an existing ministry called Baseball Country. Over the past 20 years Baseball Country has held individual and team camps. With this new partnership we will develop programs making Baseball Country one of the only places in the U.S. to train players from little league to the big leagues, both locally and globally,” said Marsonek.
The new location in Alabama has more than 50 acres of property including an indoor building, fields and housing for more than 100 players. “Score Baseball will have the capabilities of investing in players both short and long term. Our presence will remain in the Tampa Bay area by having developmental travel teams in the summer and fall,” added Marsonek.
Marsonek founded SCORE International Baseball in 2012, and has had a huge impact on hundreds of lives. Most of SCORE Baseball’s staff includes former Major League baseball players including Marsonek, who played for several teams including the New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs.
In the past four years SCORE Baseball has been instrumental in procuring more than 85 college scholarships as well as 26 pro contract signings for its players. This year there are 100 players on different teams throughout the Tampa Bay area and ten of their high school seniors have signed Division-1 scholarships. In July, five of their Dominican players will be drafted.
SCORE Baseball is not just about developing great players, they are immensely focused on raising up young men that will be leaders on and off the field, in their families, community and throughout the world.
