TAMPA, Fla. (March 2, 2015) Suncoast Credit Union Gasparilla International Film Festival (GIFF) announces the official program selection for its 10th anniversary. The festival will be held March 30-April 3 at Tampa Theatre and Ybor City’s Carmike Cinemas. With 115 films, GIFF will host international and regional premieres of narrative features, documentaries and short films from around the world, as well as special tributes, master classes and panel discussions.
“We are excited to bring this lineup of stellar films into our active film community,” says Monica Varner, Executive Director and Director of Events at GIFF. “The talent and passion that GIFF brings to Tampa is something to be celebrated, particularly in our tenth year.”
GIFF will launch with an opening night showing of Eye in the Sky at Tampa Theatre on March 30, featuring a star-studded cast including Alan Rickman, Helen Mirren, Aaron Paul, as well as director Gavin Hood, who is scheduled to attend. The closing night film will be Everybody Wants Some directed by Richard Linklater, known for his cult classic Dazed & Confused.
A jury of industry professionals and acclaimed filmmakers will present awards in the following competition categories: Narrative Feature, Documentary, and Shorts. Additionally, GIFF will feature in-depth, informative industry panels, including Meet The Press; Casting Directors; “The Performance” Actor’s panel; Special Effects; Do’s, Don’ts for a Film Festival Run and The Pitch. GIFF is proud to welcome Academy Award-nominated animator Bill Plympton (1987’s Your Face), who will hold a master class and screen a work-in-progress film.
