Madeira Beach, FL (March 7, 2016) – On Saturday, March 5, more than 130 players and families attended the opening ceremonies for the Madeira Beach Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken League opening ceremonies. It was a beautiful day as all the teams gathered to kick off the season with food, raffles, bounce houses and other fun activities as well as the season’s first t-ball, baseball and softball games.
During the opening ceremonies former major league player and Seminole resident, Seth McClung threw out the first pitch to one of the league baseball players Henry Griffin.
This is the inaugural season for the Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken League, which is a partnership with the city of Madeira Beach. Currently the league offers baseball and softball for kids ages 4-12. They plan on growing the league to include up to age 18 in the coming years.
The league is managed by volunteers and funded by families and businesses.
