SARASOTA, Fla. (March 1, 2016) – Preparatory classes are returning this month to USF Sarasota-Manatee to help high school juniors and seniors boost their score on the ACT college-entrance exam.
USFSM is scheduled to hold a three-day ACT prep course on campus, 8350 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, from 3 to 6 p.m. March 24-25 and on March 26 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Retired teacher Jo-Ann Hillman of JMH Education Services will lead the classes, which offer content and exam-taking strategies. College test prep courses are increasingly common as high schoolers look for extra help getting into the college of their choice.
“The biggest thing I’ve heard her say is that the class helps students learn strategies for success when taking the ACT, which help students perform better on test day,” USFSM Director of Admissions and Financial Aid Andy Telatovich said.
The cost of the three-day course is $65 plus the cost of the book, “ACT for Dummies,” which sells for $20 to $30 online or in book stores. Please bring a copy of the book to class. Class size is limited to 25.
