Gulfport, FL: Visit Gulfport Florida on Friday, March 4, for Gulfport’s first Friday Art & Gallery Walk. The event, produced by the Gulfport Merchants Association, takes place from 6-10 pm every first Friday – rain or shine, all year round, and is home to dozens of artisans and craftsmen each month. This month’s selections may include but are not limited to: wood crafts, sculpture, handmade/designed clothing and accessories, imported metal art, painted glass, handmade candles, watercolors, acrylics & oils, jewelry, upcycled items, body products, pet products, authors, and more.
For your musical entertainment, live musicians appear at several venues throughout the waterfront district including Double M Band at Salty’s, Tropical Disturbance at Neptune Grille and Pete and Dean at O’Maddy’s.
Additional special events this week include the following; Sail Away Realty will host an inaugural ‘Robot & Girl’ Pop Up Gallery featuring original and design works by Robot, Girl and Zachary Knight in various medias including graphite’s, watercolors, sculpture and woodwork. Complimentary Wine and cheese will also be offered. The City of Imagination will host Gulfport veteran artist Keith Stillwagon and his “Visions from the Twilight” collection with complimentary wine and live music by Peter Suarez. At 8 PM the Gulfport Community Players will present, the “THE SUPPORTING CAST” at the Catherine Hickman Theatre.
Artisan & Craft Beer selections, Happy and Yappy Hours; Boca Bay Grill’s Yappy Hour from 4-7 pm offers complimentary ‘doggie tapas’ for fur babies, special drink prices and proceeds from Chateau La Paws wine sales support no kill animal shelters around the country. Little Tommie’s Tiki offers Happy Hour from 3-6 PM with drink and appetizer specials, local brews by 3 Daughters St. Pete and Cigar City Tampa and house made red and white sangria. O’Maddy’s Bar & Grille features Cigar City Maduro and Tampa Bay Brewery Reef Donkey local brews on tap. Siri’s Gourmet Burgers & Pizza suggests Kona Brewing’s Longboard Lager from Kona Hawaii, which pairs nicely with their signature Margarita Pizza. Or for a heartier fare try the Florida Avenue IPA brewed in Tampa, bold enough to stand up to their fresh ground burgers served on homemade buns.
Art Walk spans 6 city blocks that includes more than 35 unique and locally owned shops, businesses, boutiques, galleries, bars, and restaurants. Over the last few years, several new art venues have popped up around town including Domain Home Accessories & Gallery, Country Harvest Craft Studio, Susanne Vernon Mosaics, August Vernon Studios, Portspace Art Gallery, ProjectFree Gallery & Studio, Mermaid Bay Mercantile Co. and Pitzen Studios. Gulfport’s Historic Waterfront Arts District is also known as one of the foremost dining destinations in the Tampa Bay area, featuring over a dozen delicious restaurants, and all are within walking distance.
There is no admission fee for visitors and complimentary parking is available nearby with courtesy Gulfport trolley rides available to and from off-site parking areas.
