USF will premiere its “Bulls Unite” float in this year’s parade
TAMPA, Fla. (Jan. 28, 2016) — The University of South Florida will be represented in grand fashion during the Gasparilla Parade of Pirates at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30.
USF will roll through the streets of Tampa on its new “Bulls Unite” themed float, positioned 8th in the parade. USF Football Head Coach Willie Taggart, Athletic Director Mark Harlan, the Herd of Thunder’s “Horns Up” Show Band, USF Spirit Squad, Rocky the Bull mascot, as well as football student-athletes Quinton Flowers, Marlon Mack and Auggie Sanchez will ride on the float. The “Bulls Unite” float will make its debut in this year’s parade, representing the campaign that was launched in 2015 to promote a feeling of togetherness between the USF community and its supporters.
Also accompanying the float will be the USF Street Team and their specially branded vehicle. The purpose of the Street Team is to create a positive image for USF in the Tampa Bay community by maintaining a presence at a variety of events. The team is comprised of spirited students who represent the university as brand ambassadors.
“We are excited to once again be part of the Gasparilla Parade,” said USF Director of Event Marketing and Licensing Leni Baga, who organized USF’s representation in the parade. “We know that there will be many USF alumni, students, faculty and staff in attendance and we are proud to show our Bull Pride at such a signature event for the community.”
The USF team will toss green and gold beads as they encourage the crowds to raise their “Go Bulls” hand signals.
