Sarasota, Fla. – A local music studio has opened its doors in Sarasota’s Historic Downtown Village. The owner of Sunshine Music Lessons, Kira Gaillard, is a Sarasota native and a graduate of the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music.
Gaillard, who recently returned to Sarasota after making her European debut with the Weimar Lyric Opera Studio, teaches private piano and voice lessons, along with group music classes to children and adults of all ages.
Sunshine Music Lessons will take part in the Historic Downtown Village’s monthly Fourth Friday event this Friday, Jan. 22, from 5 to 9 p.m. Guests are welcome to visit Sunshine Music’s booth, along with other local merchants at 1861 Fruitville Rd. Prospective students and parents can play games that night for chance to win a $10-off voucher for a student’s first month of lessons.
“My goal is to create a community of students of all ages and backgrounds united by their love of music,” Gaillard said. “Our new location in the heart of downtown Sarasota is both convenient and cheerful.”
Group classes at Sunshine Music Lessons will begin March 28. Offerings include “Let’s Make a Symphony,” an exploration of orchestra instruments through Sergei Prokofiev’s classic work, “Peter and the Wolf,” and “Sing Around the World,” an introductory voice class where students will be introduced to folk songs from a different country each week.
Sunshine Music Lessons is planning Summer Music Camps and will soon offer lessons for additional instruments. More class offerings and registration information can be found at SunshineMusicSRQ.com.
