On Sunday, January 10, 2016, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay will take in 20 dogs who have been displaced from Natchez-Adams County Humane Society by the flooding in Mississippi. Among the evacuees are five heartworm positive dogs who will receive treatment at the Society. All are expected to arrive at the shelter (3607 N. Armenia Avenue) between 12:00pm and 3:00pm.
The transport was facilitated by the Humane Society of the United States which has moved more than 100 dogs from NACHS to make room for the influx of animals the shelter expects in the coming days. NACHS serves as a temporary emergency shelter for evacuees’ pets.
As one of HSUS’s Emergency Placement Partners in Florida, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay stands ready to assist with animals from large-scale abuse and rescue cases.
