St Petersburg, FL, December 14, 2015 — The holidays are over and it’s time to follow through on your resolution to give back to the community. Do you have a few hours to spare one day a week? Why not consider volunteering at Daystar Life Center? It’s good for your heart and your self-esteem!
The non-profit – where 96 cents of each $1 donated goes directly to client services – offers a variety of ways to get past a rough time. Basically, Daystar is there to meet basic needs for families and individuals during a crisis but it’s also there to guide clients towards a better life.
The next hour-long volunteer information session is at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2016. Daystar is conveniently located in downtown St. Petersburg at 226 6th St. S.
Can’t make this session? Contact Kitty Rawson, Community Relations Manager, at 727-498-8794 or firstname.lastname@example.org to set up another time. Future volunteer information sessions will take place on the third Tuesday of each month at the agency.
Daystar is known for its direct client services, meaning needs are met often on the spot. Services include: food pantry, clothes closet, local transportation, utility assistance, rent/mortgage assistance, Travelers Aid, personal ID, hygiene needs, online benefits assistance, confidential and secure mail service, USDA food distribution and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA). Daystar also provides information/referrals for others services plus offers haircuts during certain times.
