The Roskamp Institute – A Sarasota-based, non-profit research institute dedicated to finding therapies for neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders – announces an end-of-year campaign to raise an additional $50,000.
“Anyone who has been touched by diseases of the mind such as Alzheimer’s understands the importance of discovering effective treatments to improve quality of life,” said Dr. Fiona Crawford, President and CEO of the Institute. “We’re thrilled to see the community rally behind our mission, allowing us to intensify our research into the causes, treatments and potential cures for neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders.”
To help kick-start the campaign, a generous donor has pledged to match up to $25,000 on all donations from now until the end of 2015 as a challenge to others to support The Roskamp Institute’s work to find cures for disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, Traumatic Brain Injury, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder and Gulf War Illness. The donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, seeks to rally support from the community for the efforts of more than 50 top scientists and researchers from around the world at the state-of-the-art institute.
“We have a situation here at The Roskamp Institute where our scientists and clinicians work completely collaboratively with a real focus on deliverables and a real focus on an end goal in the clinic,” said Dr. Crawford.
The Roskamp Institute is recognized as a leader in the global effort to better understand and ultimately cure debilitating diseases of the mind. Most of the Institute’s funding comes from grant funding and the general public. Contributions to the not-for-profit (501[c]3) The Roskamp Institute are tax deductible and support research to improve treatment and to ultimately develop a cure for these devastating diseases.
