Polls are now open to the public through Dec. 4 to vote for their favorite EDGE District Holiday Window Displays, a featured contest in the District’s big celebration, Holiday Magic in the EDGE.
Sixteen locally-owned businesses have entered the contest. “This competition is fun and fierce,” reported Barbara Voglewede, the EDGE District’s Executive Director. “I’ve been amazed by how much creativity it’s bringing out. But even more than that, these displays show a tremendous sense of spirit. This is the busiest time of year for all of us, yet these merchants took the time and effort to enter the contest and create beautiful displays the whole community can enjoy.”
To vote, the public can see a map of participants on the EDGE District website (www.edgedistrict.org), then visit and vote on the window displays using the District’s online ballot. The People’s Choice Award will be announced on Dec. 5 between 5-6pm at the Holiday Magic in the EDGE event. There will also be other awards given, determined by a secret panel of judges visiting the window displays this week. Most Creative, Best Use of Lighting, Best Use of Merchandise, and Best in Show will be awarded.
Holiday Magic in the EDGE is hosted by the EDGE Business District Association as part of its Main Street program. The event will also include a main stage with live music of the season, a lighted bikes procession at sunset, Santa Shuttle, outdoor holiday movies, activities for children, and many other special touches. Parking is free at Tropicana Lot 6 for this event. To help support the Main Street program, visitors may also purchase an EDGE Jingle Card from now until Dec. 5 to save 50% on drinks at participating bars and restaurants. The first 100 cards will also come with a hand-crocheted mini stocking, perfect for gift card giving.
