St. Petersburg, FL. (November 18, 2015):
On Saturday, December 5th, from 3-9 pm St. Petersburg’s EDGE District will be center of holiday festivities for Holiday Magic in the EDGE. Hosted by the EDGE Business District Association, this inaugural event will showcase the District’s vibrancy with holiday lights, holiday window displays, a main stage with live musical performances, a lighted bikes brigade, Santa Shuttle, outdoor holiday movies, and a multitude of shopping and dining specials.
EDGE merchants will light up their storefronts with special displays as they participate in the event’s Holiday Window Decorating Contest. Five awards will be presented, including a People’s Choice Award, which invites the public to vote online for their favorite windows from November 28 until December 4. A list of participating businesses, walking tour map, and ballot will be posted on the EDGE website. Winners will be announced on Dec. 5.
At the Central & 11th Street roundabout, the EDGE Main Stage will offer an eclectic mix of seasonal music by performers including Cameron Derrick, whose resonant voice easily calls to mind Sinatra, Harry Connick, and Michael Buble. A few steps away at the Green Bench courtyard, visitors can enjoy outdoor holiday movies. One of the evening’s highlights will be the Lighted Bikes Brigade, hosted by Shift St. Pete and featuring bicyclists festively outfitted for the occasion. The Brigade will ride down Central Avenue from 16th Street to MLK, starting just after sunset.
As an added bonus for visitors, an EDGE “Jingle Card” is available for purchase now through Dec. 5, and is good for drinks at EDGE bars and restaurants throughout December. All proceeds support the EDGE District Main Street Program, a nonprofit whose mission is to revitalize the historic EDGE District. The first 100 cards sold will also include a hand-crocheted mini stocking, perfect for gift card giving.
Parking for the event is free at Tropicana Lot 6, and festivities run the length of the EDGE District – from MLK to 16th Street, and 1st Ave. N to 1st Ave. S.
