Changes to current federal and state laws, NLRB rulings create need to
update workplace policies
TAMPA, FLA. (Nov. 18, 2015) — Fisher & Phillips LLP, a leading labor and employment law firm, announced that is hosting the first in a series of quarterly breakfast briefings to help employers better understand the impact of recent regulatory developments on their workplaces.
During the breakfast briefing, Fisher & Phillips’ labor and employment law attorneys will explain how recent National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) decisions and changes to state and federal laws can impact employer policies, agreements and employee handbooks. Employee handbooks that have not been updated within the last six months may contain unlawful provisions, and updates may need to be made to ensure it is compliant with current federal and state laws.
“Employers must be diligent in reviewing and updating employment policies and handbooks to make sure outdated information doesn’t inadvertently put the organization at risk,” said Steve Bernstein, regional managing partner in the Tampa office of Fisher & Phillips LLP.
Anyone who makes decisions impacting the workforce can benefit from attending “It’s All About The Employee Handbook” on Dec. 8, 2015 at Bank of America Plaza Conference Center, 101 E. Kennedy Blvd., Suite 890 in Tampa.
Breakfast and networking begin at 7:30 a.m. and the seminar runs from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. The registration fee $25 per person, which includes breakfast. The briefing has been submitted to the HR Certification Institute and Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) for review.
