BRADENTON, FL (November 5, 2015) – The Manatee YMCA will host the American Youth Football (AYF) and American Youth Cheerleading (AYC) Southeast Regional Championship in Lakewood Ranch on November 12-15, 2015. The event is expected to bring almost 9,000 people from five states to the Manatee County area, with an expected economic impact of $1.4 million.
Almost 2,000 athletes from Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida will compete at the events. The AYF games will be held at the Premier Sports Campus, located at 5895 Post Blvd in Lakewood Ranch. AYC events will be held at R. Nolan Middle School, located at 6615 Greenbrook Blvd.
A “Champions Bash” will be held at the Lakewood Ranch YMCA, located at 5100 Lakewood Ranch Blvd., on November 12 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. The Bash will feature a dance party with a DJ, a dive in movie, climbing wall, inflatable obstacle course and inflatable dodge ball. Tickets for the event will be $7 in advance, $10 at the door, and $3 for children ages 6 and under.
Since its inception 15 years ago, AYF/AYC has become the nation’s largest youth football/cheerleading program with more than 650,000 athletes aged 5-16 playing on 18,000 teams in all 50 states. The national championship, which will be held in Kissimmee, Fl, is the largest football competition in the world. The organization’s mission is to provide all kids with a place to play and use football as a means to ‘give back’ to the community.
