The EDC of Sarasota County is the private, not for profit corporation charged with leading the Sarasota community’s economic development strategy of diversifying and adding high-wage jobs to the local economy. The EDC works to improve the local business climate while helping companies to expand and relocate in Sarasota County. The EDC partners with local government, Chambers of Commerce, workforce/ talent providers and other organizations throughout the county, region and state to accomplish its mission. About our Presenter:
Mark Huey, a graduate of the Wharton School of Business at University of Pennsylvania, has been CEO and President of the Sarasota Economic Development Corporation for the past 4 years, and is an expert on economic cluster theory. Prior to coming to Sarasota EDC in 2011, Mr. Huey was for 8 years, the head of Economic and Urban Development for the City of Tampa. Mr. Huey previously held senior executive positions at Tampa Housing Authority, Metropolitan Ministries, The Wilson Company, and General Mills.
