[Tampa, FL] The Arts Council of Hillsborough County has announced its $40,000 grant program for Hillsborough County artists in 2016. It will begin accepting applications now through January 22, 2016 for the grants. The program funds up to $3000 for specific projects such as equipment, materials, workshops and other expenses that will further the artist’s career.
Applications for grants will be considered from experienced artists in the theatre, visual, dance, music, literary, media and folk art disciplines who have been a Hillsborough County resident since January 2014. Artists can show accomplishment in their careers in a variety of ways such as work samples, resumes, awards or education.
The application is easy. Artists answer two questions – what do you intend to do and how will it help your career; include their resume and list of accomplishments; outline the anticipated expenses; and provide work samples. A panel of art professionals review all of the applications and funding decisions are announced in late February. The grant period begins March 1.
“We’re interested in how an artist can take their career to a new level. That might be through a workshop or residency; new tools or equipment; production of new work; or covering the expenses associated with recordings or publication. All the artist needs to do is explain how their proposal will help them grow and advance their career,” said the Council’s Executive Director Art Keeble. “Last year’s program awarded $30,000 to 11 Hillsborough County artists in dance, theatre, literary and visual arts.”
Artists interested in applying should visit the Council’s website, TampaArts.com for details on eligibility, requirements and applications or call (813) 276-8250. The application deadline is Friday, Jan. 22, 2015.
This year’s individual artist grant program is made possible thanks to funds from the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners and contributions received at October’s FIVE by FIVE art event presented by the Arts Council.
