SARASOTA/BRADENTON, FL – Goodwill Manasota’s Veterans Services Program was chosen as this year’s beneficiary of monetary donations at the door at the annual Realtor® Association of Sarasota and Manatee (RASM) Fallfest. Fallfest is an annual event held by the RASM Business Partners to showcase their businesses. Realtors who attend are asked to donate $3 at the door for entry, in support of a designated nonprofit organization doing good work in the community.
This year’s Fallfest was held in late September in Bradenton. Sixty business partners had tables and more than 130 Realtors attended. Stafford Starcher, 2015 RASM president, Linda Formella, president-elect, and Edwin Robinson, who was representing Goodwill Manasota’s Veterans Services, manned the entry table. The Realtors were provided a wonderful lunch, along with door prizes at the end of the event.
Soon after the event, RASM CEO Kathy Roberts presented a check for $523 to C.J. Bannister, Goodwill’s director of the Veterans Services Program.
“As veterans are discharged from the military, the demand for services designed to facilitate their reintegration into their communities, families and jobs is immense. Veterans face many challenges when they return home,” said Bob Rosinsky, president and CEO of Goodwill Manasota. “We are grateful to the community leaders and businesses that have partnered with Goodwill to help serve our country’s heroes. Many thanks to the local Realtor Association for choosing to support Goodwill Manasota’s Veterans Services Program.”
Goodwill’s Veterans Services Program has veterans on staff and provides full case management and vocational services that address barriers to employment, disabilities, mental health issues, housing, education and training. The program also helps veterans navigate the wide array of available programs and to secure the benefits to which they are entitled.
