SARASOTA, Fla. – Designing Daughters of Sarasota (DesigningDaughtersSarasota.com), a charitable organization of young professional women dedicated to enhancing the community and cultivating the next generation of philanthropists through strategic granting, is hosting Drinks with Daughters, a happy hour event established to raise money for local nonprofits.
On Wednesday, Nov. 4 from 5 – 9 p.m. at Libby’s L Bar, various Designing Daughters of Sarasota members will work behind the bar for the fifth year to generate money for the organization’s 2015 grants. Last year, the event raised over $5,000 for area nonprofits. Entrance to the event is $20, which includes a complimentary drink and raffle ticket for a chance to win tickets to A Fashionable Gala in May 2016.
“Designing Daughters of Sarasota continues to build its presence in Sarasota, and events like Drinks with Daughters are essential to that growth,” says Alex Chau, event co-chair. “This event is a fun happy hour, and it is always wonderful to see so many supporters from all facets of our community stop by to support the Designing Daughters in their efforts to raise money for local charities.”
The Designing Daughters of Sarasota bartenders for the night include Marie Bowman with Sawa Design Studio, Britney Guertin with Shore, Ashley Guttridge with Fresh Salon, Lori Hagey with Easter Seals Southwest Florida, Alicia King with ThreeSixOh Public Relations, Amanda Picken, Molly Prichard with SkinSmart Dermatology, Ashley Reeves with Boars Head, Abby Schweigart with Edward Jones Investments, Tatyana Sharoubim with T. The Designing Daughters of Sarasota grants, which are netted through fundraising events throughout the year, will be presented to recipients at a granting ceremony in winter 2015. Past grant recipients include Girls Incorporated of Sarasota County, Child Protection Center, Habitude and fundraising support for various others.

About Designing Daughters of Sarasota
Shelley Lister, then a Designing Women Boutique board member, founded Designing Daughters in 2009. The charitable organization was formed as a committee to attract younger supporters and to help the organization with its fundraising efforts. Along with founding President Nikki Taylor, past President Jane Thompson, current President Montana Taplinger and others, the committee grew far beyond expectations. As of January 2015, because of this growth, Designing Daughters of Sarasota partnered with the Community Foundation of Sarasota County to maximize its giving potential.
Designing Daughters of Sarasota’s goal is to give grants to several local charities each year and with almost no overhead, and the majority of its fundraising does just that. Designing Daughters of Sarasota is made up of an impressive list of local, young and influential women who are well connected in the community and have been very successful in forming strategic alliances and getting underwriters to cover the expenses for these events.
