Stitch on Central has become one of latest boutiques to join the growing number of retail shops opening their doors in Downtown Winter Haven. The boutique, which specializes in personalization of items using embroidery, vinyl and heat press, is now open at 337 W Central Avenue in the Central Park Square building. Six/Ten, LLC, a Winter Haven-based developer, completed the deal as landlord.
Stitch on Central owner, Lauren Young, said she decided to open her new business in the downtown district because of the area’s demographics. Additionally, she noted the current popularity of personalization and related boutique items.
“With the opening of El Norteño, the Results Companies’ offices, and the upcoming Central Tavern, we are seeing increased foot traffic for local businesses as more and more locals are coming downtown to dine and shop,” said Kerry Wilson, President of Six/Ten. “The opening of Heartland Church’s downtown campus has also started to bring thousands of Polk County residents downtown each weekend.”
“Winter Haven is a dream destination that came true for us. We love the feel that downtown has, the traffic flow and the revitalization that is taking place. We are excited to partner with the area for years to come,” said Young.
Central Park Square was once a dilapidated furniture store that Six/Ten has since transformed into retail and office space. Renovations include modernization of the exterior façade; a new design and color scheme; dramatic, new layouts of both floors; and complete updates to the plumbing, air conditioning, electrical and elevator systems. Retail spaces are still available in the building.
